After short times at art colleges, he studied for two years at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, then travelled extensively in Italy studying the early frescoes. In 1987 made his first carvings in wood, first exhibited at Trinity College, Dublin, and has exhibited his paintings widely.
He has had ten one-man exhibitions in London and elsewhere in Britain. His work has been shown in many mixed exhibitions including The Royal Academy and The London Group. With both of these his work travelled on tours throughout Britain. His paintings and sculpture are represented in many private collections in Britain, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Canada and the USA.
